Miravia specializes in supporting young pregnant women. They currently have over 150 active clients with a waiting list a third again that long. Their primary criterion for eligibility is that you are pregnant or have a baby less than 2 months old.
Their outreach center is located in the rear of an office park off of Tyvola Rd. (810 Tyvola). It’s near Costco. Look for this sign over the front door
Their organization is well… organized. That’s obvious from this picture I took of one of their storerooms. Their monthly meetings provide both material support (like diapers or maternity clothes) and peer-to-peer support to cope with the challenges of being a new mom. They have life-skills classes and case managers to connect you with other community resources if you need them.
Their website miravia.org does a good job of spelling out who’s eligible for their services.
Eligibility Criteria for the Program:
•Must have reliable transportation.
•Must be pregnant or have a baby no more than two months old.
•Must have reliable childcare.
•Must attend the monthly meetings for the year.
In addition to their outreach/support program for pregnant women, they also have a small but very worthy college program for post highschoolers who want to further their education. They have a residence on the campus at Belmont Abbey for moms to go to college there, tuition free!
Apply to join (get on their waiting list.) on their website MiraVia and/or call them at 980-357-9552.
