Hope House Foundation

Hope House Foundation in Huntersville is primarily a mid-sized transitional housing program for women and women with children.

They have four acres of grounds that they’ve turned into a beautiful and nurturing environment. They have 7 bedrooms in this large home to house families in transition.

They have a spacious backyard for relaxation after work and for the children to play. There is an expectation that residents will have at least a part-time job.

The families dine together and take turns with kitchen chores. Based on income, families pay a small guest service fee every month to help cover expenses.

To be completely candid, this is a great program with a very, very high success rate for the roughly 55 women that run through it every year. But their criteria for entry is a challenge for many women and not all who apply will be accepted. Here is the criteria:

 Experiencing homelessness.
 Unaccompanied single or single mother (over 18) with children. Male children 10 years and older meet criteria based on special circumstance.
 Free and clean of impairing substances and can always pass a drug test.
 Meets background criteria:
o No felonies or sexual offenses
 Employed and or demonstrates potential for increased income within 3 months of intake.
 Willing to participate in any classes, programs, mental wellness assessment, counseling and assessments
 Willing to participate in financial literacy and other program services designed to enhance your understanding of money management.
 Positive attitude and willingness to give back to the community.
 Understand that this is NOT permanent housing and there may be limited living space for your items.
 Willing to engage in positive relations while living in community.
 Commit and agree to move out, on or before your specified departure date.
 No active restraining order.
