Shelters. There are many different shelters in Charlotte. Would you answer some quick yes or no questions so we can take you to the best shelter for your situation? Otherwise, just pick from the list below.
Housing | Just plain housing. I got some kinda job and I can scrimp up enough for a security deposit and pay $500/month |
Day Shelters | They are usually from 9a ~ 5p. With any luck you’ll find a meal here and hopefully a Case Manager to help you. |
Emergency Shelters | These shelters are equipped to help you stay overnight. |
Transitional Shelters | These shelters are set up to enroll you in their program for more than an overnight stay. They cannot help you find housing “tonight” |
Permanent Supportive Housing | These are each special housing reserved for homeless individuals that are at risk of dying on the street. You have to have a Coordinated Entry to be considered for these. |
Medical Shelters | If you or one of your family are under medical care these shelters can temporarily shelter you |
Maternity Shelters | They will help mothers-to-be or mothers with newborn on a temporary basis |
Family Shelters | These are rare and hard to get into |
Domestic Violence | If you are a woman fleeing a domestic violence situation they can safely house you until you can stand on your own |
Substance Abuse | If you’re committed to making a change they will help you. Even if you’re “high functioning” your problems could be keeping you from employment and a happy life |
Mental Health | Don’t get stuck on stigma. Check into one of these programs for faster care |
Permanent | These organizations will help you find permanent housing |
