Anuvia is a place where people can change their lives. This is especially true if you’re unsheltered. Whether it’s drugs or alcohol, Anuvia’s staff is well trained in helping individuals abstain from substance use. In addition to their expertise in treating addictions (substance use disorders), Anuvia also has programs available to assist with treating mental health symptoms. They provide a safe, clean and cheery environment, free from stressors and triggers, where you can learn important skills to help turn your life around. Another surprise about Anuvia is that it is a voluntary program. While they do have plenty of security to protect you and prevent outsiders from entering the building, you not locked in and can choose to leave at any time.
Their program is divided into 2 segments: The first segment is a 3~7day detox program to help you get through any initial withdrawal symptoms and/or cravings. The second segment is a 28~30 residential program that provides additional time for you to further stabilize and learn additional skills to help you stay clean and sober. Some people stay for just the first segment, many opt to do both, depending on your situation. During your stay, you will enjoy an array of amenities such as comfy beds, hot showers, laundry facilities, outside courtyard, walking path, and exercise equipment. You will also be provided 3 meals and 2 snacks per day. While in services, the staff will strive to get you into a longer-term transition program. Many of these longer term programs also provide housing components.
Anuvia’s intake process is very simple. It starts right here at the check-in window. The hardest part is taking that first step. However, if you even think you might have a problem with drugs and/or alcohol, then taking that first step can be the best decision you ever made. Standing in front of that check-in window is where your life changes. Money should not be a consideration either. While it’s not guaranteed, it’s likely that they can find some funding for you through various funding sources. I am certainly not authorized to say they take everybody, but it’s fair to say they turn very few people away.
Lastly, Anuvia is not strictly for homeless people. Many sheltered people have addictions too. It’s just that addiction often contributes to people experiencing housing insecurities.
