Nourish Up

Nourish Up is, by far, the largest provider of food to Charlotte’s needy. The combination of their new distribution center off of Brookshire and I-85 and nearly 50 years of providing food for Charlotte’s under-privileged means they are the most dominant and high-efficient food resource in our area.

There are many ways you can use their food pantries. The usual way most people in need access a Nourish Up (formerly known as Loaves & Fishes) pantry is via a referral from a case manager, social worker or church pastor. But you can also get permission via the Nourish Up call center. Just call 704-523-4333 and give them your social security number. They can put your name on an appointment list and guide you to the nearest pantry. Because of their size, they probably run a food pantry near you. They are generous, but their food supply is not unlimited. Once you’re in their system you can visit one of their pantries 12 times a year. However, if you’re in urgent need of food, you can go to a pantry and let them know it’s an emergency for you and they will help you out. The list below shows pantries that are open today and this week along with their hours..

Here are the current locations from their website:

They have dozens of volunteers preparing food for distribution to all these pantries. Here they are sorting food donations.
